Great Half Returns to the Rugby Game

MILL TO PLAY AGAIN

HAS SETTLED IN HASTINGS (Special to THE SUN > NAPIER, To-day. Jimmy Mill, star halt-back of the famous invincible All Blacks of 1924, is now settled in Hawke’s Bay again and intends to play Rugby there this season. Mill, who was aptly described by English critics as an “electric - tension scrum worker,” was in many respects the most brilliant half-back the Rugby game has seen in this country in late years, his dazzling blind side dashes being almost world-famous. Coming to Hawke's Bay from Tokomaru Bay in 1922, he soon won a permanent place in big Rugby, gaining All Black honours in 1923-24-25-26, and establishing for himself a wide name as a pivotal back of speed and cleverness. As a member of the Hawke's Bay teams from 1922 to 1926, he played, a big part in helping to establish the province’s great record in connection with the Ranfurly Shield. Following his marriage, however, he retired from representative football in 1927, though, since then, he has made fitful appearances in games of lesser importance in Tokomaru Bay. He has now taken up a position in Hastings, and intends to permanently reside there in future. He will play grade Rugby in the Baj r during the coming season.
