THEFT OF CABLE

SEAMAN SENT TO GAOL SCALED YARD WALL Scaling the wall of the Auckland Power Board yard near Luna Park last Thursday, Leslie Henry George Sealey succeeded in gaining possession of 15 yards of copper cable. A.t the Police Court this morning Sealey, a seaman, aged "8, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing copper cable valued at £lO from the power board. Chief-Detective Hammond said that Sealey had been caught trying to sell the stolen cable, which had been chopped into small lengths, to a dealer. He had stolen the cable from the board’s yard after climbing over the fence. "We are having no end of trouble over this cable," concluded the Chief-Detective. •

Sealey, who was said to have eight previous convictions, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
