BIG SWIMMING EVENT

CHRISTMAS DAY CARNIVAL SHELLY BEACH THE VENUE Large numbers of entries for the Ponsonby Swimming Clubs’ big carnival at Shelly Reach Baths on Christmas Day have been received. The carnival 'will be the club’s first this season. It will begin at 2.30 p.m. Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P., will speak at the opening. The club has dropped the novice event usually included in programmes, and has replaced it with an open sprint handicap. Misses Ena Stockley (.Grammar) and Doris Magee (Parnell.) are the competitors off scratch in the womens’ race, and De Loree, Sellars, Cunnold and Enwright are among the competitors in the interclub event.
