“THE ADORABLE OUTCAST”
AT MAJESTIC NEXT FRIDAY Edith Roberts, Edmund Burns. Walter Long and a large cast of Australian players appear in “TJie Adorable Outcast,” Australasian Films’ screen adaptation of Beatrice Grimshaw’s novel, “Conn of the Coral Seas.” which comes to the Majestic Theatre next Friday. The original story has been changed a little for screen purposes, but all the big moments of the book have been realistically transferred. Some of the scenes include a large living room, built in the tropical Javanese style of architecture; a huge ceremonial hut made of bamboos and palms which represents an exact replica of a ceremonial hut in New Guinea; a notorious saloon which is the waterfront meeting place of pearlers, crooks and other members of the rougher element; the interior of an , island mission station, and various trading ports and pearlers’ rendezvous. Five hundred war canoes ajnd outriggers are seen in action, while another scene depicts 2,000 native' warriors dancing in full war dress with clubs and spears Arthur McLaglen, who played Matt Gabbett in “For The Term of His Natural Life,’ has another wonderful role in “The Adorable Outcast” as Iron Devil, the cannibal chief, in which the art of make-up has triumphed. Other Australians who appeared in “The Term.” and are also appearing in this second picture, are Jessica Harcourt. Arthur Tauchert, Fred Twitchin and Compton Coutts.
