NEW REGENT
NEW PROGRAMME Another fine programme will be presented at the New Regent Theatre this evening, including excellent pictures and a spectacular music and dancing show entitled “On the High Seas.” The main pictorial attraction is an amusing farce entitled “Just Married,” with Ruth Taylor and James Hall in the leading roles. The background of “Just Married” is the smart life of wealthy Americans in Paris. The story deals with the predicament of a young man who, sailing to America with his fiancee, is ruthlessly pursued by a deserted lover, a hot tempered French girl, played by Lila Lee. Most of the action takes place on the steamer. and complications are said to be fast and furious. The young man finds himself aboard the liner, partly dressed in his evening clothes, without any luggage, and a strange girl in his stateroom. His antics, as he races about the deck clad in a steamer rug, are said to produce a succession of riotous situations. “Just Married” first appeared in play form. It ran for 18 months in New York. Anne Nicholls. author of “Abie’s Irish Rose,” is the author of the play. Mr. Maurice Diamond’s Sydney Ballet will present an entirely new programme this evening, entitled “On the High Seas.” a nautical touch being given by the sailor lads and lassies. New singing and dancing items will be given by the popular Stella Lamond and the finishing touches will be supplied to the whole performance by a more snappy jazz piece from Mr. Maurice Guttridge and his 20 Syncopatora.
