THE British steamer S-liasi, 1,300 tons,'was attacked by pirates between Shanghai and Hankow yesterday. Thirty-two pirates, disguised as deck passengers, overpowered the crew within sight of Hankow, killed a Chinese cook, and wounded one of the crew and an American passenger. The loot totalled 20,000 dollars. The pirates, who were ex-soldiers, left by a launch which had followed the Shasi. The latter returned to Hankow, where the wounded were taken to hosj>ital.
