UNSETTLED MONTH
HIGH RAINFALL RECORD
SUN FAILS ON ONE DAY An unsettled month with the rainfall well over the average, is the report of the Government Observer at Auckla.id, Mr. H. M. Vincent, who records that 5.24 in. of rain fell in October, this figure exceeding the October average by 1.33 in. There was only one day upon which the sun did not shine. On the other hand, rain fell on 23 days, the highest daily fall reaching ,97in. on October 23. There were no severe storms, and the period was particularly suited to horticulture. Temperature was mild and barometer pressure low. A comparison in rainfall for the 10 months in four successive'years is given below:
