BILLIARDS CRACKS

BOTH IN GREAT FORM LINDRUM STILL LEADS A large attendance witnessed the continuation of the billiards match between the champions yesterday at the St. James Theatre room. The spectators at both sessions were rewarded with some brilliant breaks, Lindrum running past the century five times in the evening session and four times during the afternoon. The Australian is now 6,002 (in play) to Clark Me Conachy’s 4,218. Lindrum’s best break during the day session was a 278 in which his masterly manoeuvring of the balls was noticeable. McConachy was slower off the mark, but got going with a nicelycompiled 176. There was a record gallery in the evening, when Lindrum carried an unfinished break of 70 to 164, and in two following visits to the table rattled up breaks of 120 and 117. McConachy replied with a neat 80, and then got into his stride with a break of 198 at the top of the table. Later on McConachy was troubled with an attack of miscuing, but attention to the cue tip corrected this and he piled up a well-controlled break of 156 before his opponent ran to his points.
