NEW ROAD BOARD OFFICES
MOUNT ROSKILL MODIFIES SCHEME
The proposal to build new Road Board offices and a public hall at Mount Roskill was considerably modified by the board at its meeting last evening.
The board holds an unused balance of £4,600 on account of the quarry loan, and as the debenture-holders and the Government Loans Board have both agreed to the transfer of this sum to the building of new offices, it now remains for the ratepayers to give their consent to the transfer. The original proposal was to borrow an additional £2.500 and erect a building costing £7,100, but the board decided last evening to abandon the latter proposal, and limit the expenditure to £4,600. A poll of ratepayers will be taken shortly to sanction the transfer.
