AIDER OF JUSTICE GETS HIS REWARD
LENIENCY FOR CLOUSTON j “He assisted the ends of justice the other day, so I’m not going to send him to prison,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when Henry Clouston, aged 20, appeared at the Police Court to-day. i Clouston, whose evidence last week i saved Guy Carney from imprisonment, ! pleaded guilty to charges of stealing I an overcoat and bicycle at Petone and Lower Hutt in July. 1926. Chief-Detective Hammond said that accused, an able-bodied single man, was living on charity. A Salvation Army officer said he was prepared to care for Clouston for a month until he got a start. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence any time within 12 months. He was also ordered to make restitution.
