LYRIC
“TWELVE MILES OUT” • Those who have followed the career of John Gilbert through his successful roles of a romantic nature, will be astonished and delighted at his latest portrayal, that of a rum-runner off the coast of America, in the picture “Twelve Miles Out,” now being shown to large audiences at the Lyric Theatre. Besides being a complete revelation of the American bootlegging business, the picture abounds incidents and in romantic appeal. The leading character, played by John Gilbert, is that of Jerry Fay, a dashing young man, the owner of a speedy motorboat conveying liquor ashore. He finally defeats the purpose of those engaged in the trade and doing so earns the love of Jane, played by Joan Crawford. Revolver battles in the flight, swift escapades in motor boats, and stirring hand - to - hand battles contribute to the exciting plot. Monte Blue is the star in the second feature on the programme, “One Round Hogan,” a story of fighting men and fighting love.
