Too Much Water Used Yesterday

COMPLETE RESTRICTIONS POSSIBLE

Over 10,500,000 gallons of water were used by the parched city yesterday—“ Much too much,” said Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Water Committee of the City Council this morning. Yesterday was the first day under the hosing restrictions, and the amount of water used, 10,600,000 gallons, despite all restrictions, has perturbed the water department. “Ten and a-half million gallons is too high a consumption altogether,” said Mr. Allum. “If it is not reduced we will have to apply complete restrictions.

“There is enough water for the reasonable ne'eds of the citizens, but there is none to spare for wasteful hose-users. We have information which will give grounds for an immediate prosecution.”
