FLOWING FOLDS OF TULLE
AN EVENING WEDDING WEBB—TURTON An interesting evening wedding took place at the Anglican Church, Kakahi, last week, when Lilian, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Turton, of Kakahi, was married to Mr. I. A. Webb, town clerk of Taumarunui, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Webb, of Waihi. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. P. Weatherhcg. of Taumarunui. The bride was given away by her father, and wore a charming dress of ivory silk georgette over crepe de chine, with accordeon pleated skirt, trimmed with loose georgette panels, hand embroidered in sequins and silver, a similar design being carried out on the bodice. The veil, which was exquisitely hand embroidered, was kept in place by clusters of orange blossoms, and its flowing folds were held by the pageboy, Master Bert Turton, who wore a. chic little suit of cream silk. The bride's bouquet was a shower of roses and cyclamen, with maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss M. Turton, sister of the bride, wore a frock of spring green French crepe de chine, heavily embroidered with silver beads. Her head-dress was a band of silver leaves, and she wore shoes and stockings to tone. Her bouquet was of sweet peas and tulips, with mn idenhair fern. The bride’s mother was attired in navy blue French crepe de chine, trimmed with navy georgette, and appliqued in gold flowers. She wore a cyclamen hat, with shaded ospreys,
and silver fox furs. She carried a bouquet of orchids and tulips. The bridegroom’s mother wore black French crepe de chine, trimmed with guipure lace, and a black silk coat, and a smart hat to match. She carried a bouquet of anemones and tulips. Mr. T. Dillon, of Taumarunui, attended the bridegroom as best man. A reception was held at Everybody’s Theatre, when a large number of guests were received. The customary toasts were honoured, and the supper was followed by a social evening, the guests indulging in dancing to music supplied by “The Merry Five” orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Webb are spending their honeymoon in the North. The bride’s travelling costume was Of bois de rose floral crepe de chine, trimmed with touches of black, the skirt being trimmed with accordeon pleated tier-s. She wore a bois de rose repp coat, with toning shoes, stockings. and gloves.
