BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING The Birkenhead Borough Council held its usual fortnightly meeting last night, the mayor, Mr. E. G. Skeates, presiding. Dr. H. T. Chesson, medical officer of health, wrote urging the' consideration of a di-ainage scheme, as he was anxious to arrive at finality in the matter. It was decided to intimate that the question of a sewerage scheme would be considered in conjunction with the estimates. A request from the Blue Star Motor Omnibus Service, that the borough council make representations to the No. 1 licensing authority to have all the bus companies plying for hire in the borough placed on the same footing, was granted. The waterworks engineer reported 2,290,000 gallons of water had been used during the past month. It was decided to replace the galvanised iron chlorinating tank at the pumping station, which was in a leaky condition, with a reinforced concrete tank. 2 The question of a joint fire brigade with Northcote was brought up and it was decided to write to the biorthcote Borough Council to obtain its views on the subject.
