BUT LAW DISALLOWED IT "Wireless control” of his dog, which has caused Devonport people some annoyance, was pleaded by Cornelius McGuiness at the by-laws court today. "I just raise my hand like this,’’ he said, "and she comes to it; it’s a sort of wireless.” McGuiness was charged with having taken his dog into Victoria Road without having it under "continual control by a leading strap or chain, or sufficient contrivance.” Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., was unsympathetic with the defence. "You take your dog- out on a chain when you go into the reserves,” he said. *‘But she . won’t go on a string,” pleaded Cornelius with a rich Irish accent. Mr. Hunt: Then do not take her out at all. You have been warned by the inspectors about this before. McGuiness was not sure what the words of the by-law meant. "What does all the rest of it mean—after chain”’” he asked. Mr Hunt: It means that you can take it out on a string or a strap or anything Defendant: But I have wireless Mr. Hunt: You will be fined if you take her out again.
