A strike of stablemen against their non-recognition by trainera seriously delayed the Grand Steeplechase at Auteuial. Spectators broke the barriers, set fire to the grass and clamoured for the return of their money. The military repressed the riot after several persons had been injured. The programme was ultimately carried out.
