COLLISION WITH A CRUISER.

An unknown merchantman collided with the second-class cruiser Sappho. The cruiser was severely damaged, and was in a sinking condition when towed into Dover. An attempt was made to beach her, but she was very low in the water. The crew .were saved. There are no tidings of the merchantman, and it is feared she has sunk. She is supposed to be a Wilson liner.
