Mr Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, met the men and owners connected with the trawling industry in conference to-day, when the whole question was gone into thoroughly. A farther conference will take place to-night, and it is confidently stated that amicable arrangements will be reached. A man named Han by was made the recipient, in the Supreme Court at Washington, of what is regarded as the most remarkable sentence record. Hanby, convicted on a bigamy charge, was not only fined £2O and sent to gaol for six months but also was sentenced to marry an Indian woman. Hanby’s first wife, learning of his marriage to a pretty Intliau girl, secured, his indictment, and then a divorce for herself. Because of the first marriage, the second marriage was declared void, but the Judge ordered the mats turn arry the ludfeu girl before he liftthe prison gates.
