FIRE BRIGADES DEMONSTRATION.
Per Press Association. Auckland, March 14. The annual demonstration of the United Fire Brigades’ Association was concluded yesterday in doll weather in the presence of between 8000 and 4000 spectators. As on the previous day, the events were run off*promptly with the result that the demonstration finished in good time. The final points for the shields place Timaru winners of the champion shield, Mas ter ton the winners of the high pressure, and Napier the winners of the Speight’s shield (for manual events). The concluding day competitions resulted as follows : One man ladder.—Masterton first, after a dead heat with Auckland City; Dunedin City 3, and Ashburton 4th, after a dead heat between six teams for third place. Rescue Events, two men.—Napier* 33 4-sseo., 1; Auckland City, 35 l-sseo., 3 (after a dead heat with Dqnedia City); Onebnnga, 36 l-sseo., 4th, after a dead heat with Waihi.
Alarm and Disabled Hose, 5 men.— Timarn, 58 3-sseo., 1; Dannevirke, 59 2-sseo., 3; Dunedin City, 605e0., 3Napier, 60 3-sseo., 4. An old firemen's two-men coupling event was placed on the programme and won by Roberts and MaoDermott, 26 4-sseo,, with Moulden and Fenton 33 l-sseo., 2nd; Beveridge and Lepiue, 345e0., 3rd.
