Won by half a length, two lengths between second and third. Time, 4min 0)^860. March Steeplechase, 2 miles Oororoit 1, Player 2., Wolseley 3. Won easily by six lengths. The weather is beautifully fine for the opening day of the above meeting, and the tracks are in splendid* order, though % trifle on the hard side. A large number of sports from all parts of the Dominion are present. Results;— Stewards’ Handicap, one mile.— Tan San, W. Price, 1; Tip Toe 2, Are Light 3. Orucinella was scratched. The latter weighed out and did a preliminary, but was very sore and was taken back to the paddock. The stewards decided that backers on the machine should have their money returned. From a splendid start Aroilght led for six furlongs, where Tan San ran to the front and won easily by a length from Tip Toe, who just beat Aroilght. Time, Imin 44sec. Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs.— Courier, Olliver, 1; Miss Mischief 2. Mulga Bill a. Scratched : Overtime and Shannon Lass. Won by a head. Westmere Hurdles, two miles.--Maidi, Abbott, 1; Commander 2, Tonderghie 3.. All started. Exmoor led for a mile, when Maidi went to the front, and stayed there, winning easily by two lengths. Time, 4min Iseo. Hack Hurdles, miles.—Whimper, N. Campbell, 1; Chase Mab 2, Tanira 3. All started. A splendid race : won by a length. Time, 3min 20sec. Wanganui Cup, \% miles.—Kilmarnock (Coleman), 1; Blue Ribbon 2, Uhlando 3. Scratched ; Paritutu. Capital start. All Red and Master Dealval led almost to the home turn, when Kilmarnock, which was last most of the way, put in a great run, and won easily. Two lengths between second and third. Time,[3min 3sec.
