HUNTERVILLE RAM FAIR.
DEMAND FOR ROMNEYS
Yesterday the annual ram fair at Hnnterville was conducted by the Manavvatn Auctioueere' Association and a busy day was experienced in getting through the exceptionally large entry which came forward. Prominent breeders on the West Coast were represented and the sheep were in a good average condition. There was a keen demand for Romneys and the superior lota sold readily, but the prices were below what was first expected. Mr A. V. Collins’ pen of 20 -1-tooth Romneys realised the best average price, and for one of these sheep, Mr J. G. Barthorp, of Silverhope, paid the highest price at the sale, 3% guineas. Messrs Koiller Bros.’ line of 100 4-tooth Romneys were nearly all sold at a guinea—a low price for good quality sheep. The management of the sale left nothing to be desired and tiie auctioneers and staff are to be congratulated.
