LONDON MARKETS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. London, February 6. Butter is steady, Danish 117 s to 119 s. There is fair demand for choicest colonial, which is selling at late rates; secondaries are slow. Consignees report that many Victorian brands are below best standard quality. At the sheepskin sale, 8350 skins were offered, and practically all sold. There was a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Bidding was animated. Best combings were unchanged. Coarse crossbred combings are at par to a tarching lower. The next sale will be held on March 18th at London. At the wool sales there was brisk competition at recent rates. Tnkorongo 10>^d. Copper, spot £SB ss, three months £59 ss; tin, spot £124 Is 6d ; three months £126 10s; lead £lB 3s 9d, iron 48s 4d. FEILDING MARKET REPORT. Messrs A. H. Atkinson & Co., Ltd., report a medium entry of pigs on Friday. Values were on a par with last week’s quotations. Young pigs of good quality sold well. Quotations: Small weaners 4s 6d to 7s 6d, slips 12s to 13s 6d, stores to 21s 6d, porkers 245, 255, 28s, and up to 30s. Sow in pig 40s. Horses: Aged mare £3. Poultry: Hens Is 6d, Is 8d to Is lOd ; small cockerels lid to Is 3d, all at each. Fruit: Large quantities of plums came forward of excellent quality. Burbanks made from Is lOd to 2s 5d per 201 b case, yellow plums 3s per case, other sorts Is 7d to Is 9d, tomatoes 2s to 2s 6d, marrows 2s 6d per bag, potatoes 5s per 90ib bag, second-hand sacks from Is 4d to 4s 4d per dozen, feed oats 2s 8J per bushel.
STOCK REPORT. Messrs Freeman E. Jackson & Co. reportOn the 3rd inst., at Wanganui, 'we yarded 270 cattle, 4700 sheep, and 109 pigs. Although the bidding was dull we managed to sell all the sheep yarded with the exception of two small lines under the hammer. No quotable change In cattle; pigs sold in buyers’ favour. WOOL & SKINS. Messrs Murray, Roberts & Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated February 4th, 1909. : The market for greasy merino wool is stronger; full woolled merino sheepskins and fine crossbred are firm, but other descriptions have declined J£d to per lb.
