GRAECO-ROMAN FOOTPADS.

WHAT TWO ROBUST YOUNG WOMEN DID. Melbourne, January 3. A young man, living at Albert Park, reported to the police to-day that he had been the victim of a highway robbery on the previous night. He was walking home in company with his wife and sister-in-law, when two men sprung out of a hedge, caught hold of him, and bore him to the ground. The wife who had acted with great courage, rendered him all the assistance possible, and his sister-in-law did all she could ; hot his assailants were strong ruffians, and succeeded in robbing him of a watch and, chain and some silver. They then ran away into the ti-tree scrub. He and his sister-in-law were much distressed at the incident, and one of his fingers was bruised. He told the constable that on going to the locality be had found the watch uninjured, lying on the ground some distance from the scene of the struggle. Particular inquiries were carried out by the police, and resulted in the disclosure that the young man had been made the victim of a family practical joke, with the concurrence of his wife and her sister. The gentleman’s two sisters, who are robust young woman, dressed in men's clothes, and carried out the assault and robbery with admirable skill and realism. When the soared party arrived home the girls listened with interest to his account of how courageously he had struggled with the footpads, and how it was only their muscle, weight and QraeooBoman wrestling that overcame him. At the same young ladies’ suggestion he set out this morning to search about the scene of the assault, and, needless to say, when he found the watch they had planted it where he could not fail to find it.
