THE BROKEN HILL TROUBLE.
ANOTHER MINE CLOSED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright Sydney, Jannary£ls. Block Ten mine closed down at midnight, since when it has been closely picketed by over 600 employees who are out of employment. A number of mining officials and a posse of police remain in charge of the mine. No attempt has been made to repair the damage to the waterpipe caused by last night’s explosion. Plumbers and other workman decline to tackle the job, fearing they would be placed on the black list. The Miners’ Executive strongly deprecate such actions and are trying all the means possible to discourage acts of violence and destruction to property. They blame irresponsible persons, who are not good Unionists at heart. Over 800 police are at Broken Hill. While searching in the vicinity of last night’s explosion, another bomb, fully charged, with a twelve-inch fuse attached, was found. It is rumoured that some of the other mines intend to close down shortly.
