NAUTICAL INQUIRY.

Press Association. Auckland, January 13. The nautical inquiry with reference to the loss of the scow Kia Ora at Kawau. and the drowning of three men. was continued to-day. An attempt was made to discredit ; the evidence given by Gosset, the sole survivor, as to the captain and crew having clnng to a rock for seven hours, but he adhered to his story. Walter MacKlow, one of the owners of the Kia Ora, deposed that the master of the vessel, Piercy, was addicted to drink. ■ He had several times been warned and once discharged for that reason, but Gosset persisted in his statement that the crew were sober. The Court adjourned till this afternoon, when the decision will be given.
