United Press Association,—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Melbourne, January 7. The State Parliament was opened by commission by Sir John Madden. Mr Griffiths was elected Speaker. THE VICTORIAN MINISTRY. Received January 8, 9.10 a.m. Melbourne, January 8. The new Ministry has been formed as follows:—Mr Murray, Premier, Chief Secretary and Labour; Watt, Treasurer; Mcßride, Mines; Billson, Education; Graham, Agriculture and Railways; McKenzie, Lauds and Water Supply; Baillien, Works; Drysdale Brown, Attorney-General; Thompson and Cameron, Honorary Ministers. In connneotioa with the election of the Speaker, Sir J. Madden and Mr Beazley were proposed, but some Labour members objected to Mr Beazey getting the appointment as they declared that in the important times coming Labour would need his vote and every vote the party could muster. The Labour Leader appealed to Ms colleagues to vote for Mr Beazley. When the division was taken nine Labourites left the Chamber and Sir J. Madden was elected by 88 to 16, The Supply Bill was passed and the House adjourned till February 9th.
