FARMERS’ UNION.

PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the ‘Wellington Provincial Executive was held at Palmerston vesterdav. In the absence of Mr Wilson, President, who was attending the Auckland Provincial Conference, Mr J. C. Cooper, "SUce-President. occupied the chair. Other members present were : Messrs E. H. Crabb, Kimboltou; W. B. Matheson and T. Moss, Eketahuna ; J. Morrison, Halcombe; J. H. Escott, Woodville; W. Kiwitea; J. O. Bidwill, Featherston; H. A. Nevins, Tenui; W. J. Birch, Marton ; Capt. Hewitt, Palmerston; and A. E. Russell, Treasurer. Several matters in connection with the Shearers’ Award were referred to the Defence Committee. Mr Cooper reported that copies of the award had been forwarded by the Department to those farmers who had been cited hut as there were a large number of farmers affected by the award it was decided to apply for a supply of copies for distribution to these farmers.

Copies of the pamphlet “Taxation and Farmers’ Legislation,’’ issued by the Colonial Executive, were received for distribution to the Branches.

The Agenda Paper for the forthcoming Conference of delegates to bo held at Feilding on May 26th was considered, and it was decided to add a number of motions to be placed on the supplementary list for consideration by the Conference.
