FEILDING A. & P. ASSOCIATION

The committee met last night, Mr G. Wheeler being in the chair. Letters were received— From Barry & 00., asking for refund of 7s 6d on account of not having received the space at the recent show they had been charged for. —Agreed to. From E. O. Benseman, asking that an amendment be made in the schedule of dairy cactle classes, that was to have different grades, and not have all breeds and grades judged in the same class.—-Referred to the cattle schedule committee.

From Earraud & Abraham, with a report of the discussion of the Bradfora Chamber of 'Commerce, in the matter of the fibre off the wool packs getting mixed with the wool. Messrs Booth, Knight, Wheeler, Burrell, “Campbell, Jackson, Atkinson, Mcllroy were appointed a committee to report on the matter. The sub-committee appointed to report on the pi’oposal to hold an Industrial Association, reported that it was decided to recommend for favourable consideration the advisability of holding another Industrial Exhibition to follow the annual show of 1908, providing a guarantee of £IOOO be forthcoming. Mr Jackson thought tnat during the present year it was not advisable to undertake to hold an exhibition. The Association was now in a good position and he thought it should not be jeopardised in attempting to carry out the proposal. He moved, That the committee does not consider it advisable to undertake holding an Industrial Exhibition next year. Mr Burrell, who seconded the amendment, said he did so on account of the cool manner the suggestion had been received, by the leading men of the town. If donations were asked for the suggested exhibition there would be a difficulty later in raising sufficient sum for the next show; and possibly the latter would be a failure, to the permanent loss of the show.

Mr Wilson, who had first made the suggestion, said that owing to the lukewarm manner it had been received the time had not yet arrived to carry it out. If the present suggestion was not adopted some other means should be adopted to broaden the operation of the show, particularly in inducing breeders from a distance to exhibit at Feilding.

Mr Bramwell thought the time was not opportune to ask for a guarantee of £IOOO, but later he believed the project could be carried out in a few years. The motion was adopted. The following gentlemen were elected as vice-presidents:—Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge, A. Campbell, O. Dick, and F. S. Bowen. It was decided to hold the aunal meeting of the Association on the 29th May at 7.30, that the ballot box be closed at 4 p.m. on the day and that Messrs Bramwell, Gobbe, Campbell, and Goodbehoro act as scrutineers.
