Australia in their first innings made not out 140, Windsor 78. These two put on 226, which is the second best record for a ninth wicket. Armstrong played a splendid and chanceless innings.
The Rest of Australia in their second innings lost four wickets for 175—McKenzie 30, Bardsley 67, and Mayne 36 being the chief scorers.
