PENALTY. The winner of any race after declaration of weights to carry a penalty of 71bs. Two or more races XOlbs. NOMINATIONS, WEIGHTS, ACCEPTANCES & GENERAL ENTRIES. Nominations will close at the Secretary’s Office, Marton, on FRIDAY, I6th August, at 7 p.m. Weights will be declared on or about the 21st August in the Rangitikei Advocate. Acceptances and General Entries on TUESDAY. 27th August, at 8.30 p.m. Weights for Second Day’s Races will be declared on WEDNESDAY, 4th September, at 8 o’clock, at the office of the Secretary, Marton. Acceptances the same evening at 9 o’clock at the same place.
RULES. All races to be run under the New Zealand Rules of Racing. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Secretary Marten Jockey Club, Marton, and entrance money to be enclosed with name of horse, age at time of entry, name of owner and trainer, pedigree, and colours of riders. All nominations by wire must be confirmed by letter by first mail afterwards.
A hunter means a horse whose owner can produce at scales a certificate .from the Master of any Hunt that the horse has been ridden to hounds during the past season to the satisfaction of the Master, and has neither won nor is nominated at the date of entry for a race of .£40 —Hack and Hunter races excepted. Bookmakers, their clei'ks, agents or assistants, will not he allowed on the grounds of the Marten Jockey Club. ARTHUR WAY, Secretary.
