Wc regret to have to record tnfl death of Mr Thomas Green, who was fouiitl dead in bed at Kaugaweka this morning. Mr Green was well known in die Bulls where he followed his occupation of blacksmith for some years. The sad occurrence is rendered all the more distressing by the fact that his wife was absent from home at the time, attending the wedding of one of MiGreen's cousins at Ohakea yesterdav. The gaol authorities had had the accused undor observation for a week, and as a result of their report"lie was examined as to his mental condition. A short examination by a doctor resulted iu Wilson b'iiiiig certified as iasane, and he will be committed to a mental hospital.
At Sltham yesterday lightning, struck 'a housa.occupied by Reuben White. The kitchen chimney was wrecked, and the bricks thrown about the place for some distance. Tho drawing-room ckimnoy was slightly injured and the window glass was blown into fragments. Ho then drove to Wellington, where it is alleged he disposed of the horse, harness.and vehicle. On the 11th April he was arrested in Auckland, and was remanded to Feilding, whore he will appear to-morrow.
