London, March 15. Mr Austin Chamberlain, speaking at a dinner at the United Club, emphasised the importance of tho commercial Union of the Empire, and reasserted the necessity of taxes on food. If tariff reform was coupled with the cry “ back to the land ” many difficulties confronting the policy would be removed.
