The race for La Carabine Cup resulted as follows i—-Rawhiti, 1; Heather, 2; S,J,S,, 3, A strong southerly breeze was blowing, and there was a lumpy sea. The course was a beat of 18 miles, and the run home 10 miles, Eleven started. Rawhiti and Heather were first across the boundary, but Sayonara held the lead for the- first half-mile, ' when Rawhiti took it. -
Sayonara was apparently too light, and carried too much canvas, and was not as expertly handled as Rawhiti and Heather.
The former sailed like a witch, rising corkily over the seas, while Sayonara jumped and shipped a deal of water,
At every tack the Now Zealander increased her load, and rounded tho buoy for home IS minutes 51 seconds in advance of the Victorian. Interest in the race then centred in the contest between Heather and Savpnava.

Rawhiti passed the post 1 figminutes ahead of Sayonara, who conceded < Rawhiti 21 seconds. Heather was 8 minutes 26 seconds behind Sayonara, but a time allowance placed her second, with S. J.S. third, 'Sayonara fourth'. ‘ 1
