HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION.
To The Kditor. Sir,—l read with interest (he letter by "Pro Bono Publico" in last .Monday's issue and quite agree with all leer she says, and should myself like io see the shops open once again on Saturday ;-. en ugs, riving the bi\ housewives—and there are many—more time to do their shopping for the week-end. We all know what n hurry and a scurry it is to go out shopping on a Saturday morning which often results in something being missed, whereas on a Saturday afternoon when all the work is done, one can go out with an easv
mind and shop at leisure, and at the same time condone business with pleasure. It stands to rea'on also it would be more convenient for those nan and womenfolk living in the outlying districts. For the shopkeeper's poini of view no doubt a Wednesday would su<i
him just as veil a.- a Saturday: to tie writer one of them remarked it would be a nice break in the middle of the week. Re prices: I think grocery prices are very reasonable in Otaki, considering the goods arc delivered to your door and you can buy in stria li lot.-. Some people forget thai also here if you purchase in larger quantities you can save money on the ordinary prices.
■ •specially if ir U cash with order as outside firms demand. T have tried it so sneak from experience. What I should like to see in Otaki is a reasonably largo up-to-date drapers' shop; I feel sure it would pay. Of course the prices would have to compare very favorably with outside linns, otherwise it would be of no use At (.resent values here are too high in that line, i nd the selection very meagre. Than'. "•;■ you. .Mr Editor, for the space I have taken up. —X am. etc.. KEEy Bi i VOtaki. 11/4/23.
