OTAKI RIVER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinarv monthly meet mg of the above was held in Messrs Harper ami At more's office last evening. Present: Messrs G. H. Harper (chairman), A. -B Podovin, Preston-Thomiis, IB B. Lethbridge, F. J. Ryder, ,T. Kobiusou. and Ben Ling. Correspondence was read from the Yeaiohiue and Palmerston North River Boards. That from the latter was considered too vague to work upon, while from the Waiohine Board it was .-i.'i.cd that the Board made a uniform rate, and rated on the annual value. There were three appl'i-ntions for ! the position of dork. and after di-mis-sion it was decided to appoint Mr Wilson. It was pointed out that the office of Messrs Harper am! Ahnore would lie available, ami a vote ol thanks was accorded those gentlemen. Eulogistic reference was also made to the iutetvst Mr Harper had taken at all times in river work. .Mention was also made of the fine work done by both Messrs Thomas and Palmer. Mr Harper said he had always touud it a pleasure to do anything for the Board, and telt sure in the appointment ol' the Clerk tn.-v had one who would take interest in proceedings and at the same time prove callable. li was decided that the Bank of New Zealand be appointed as the Bond s ■ bank, and that Messrs Harp' r and l-eng ! sign cheques, etc. j Mr Robinson pointed out that the iiiver v,-is threatening in two place , no-! suggest nil that tin' lunltct bv' attended to, adding that tin' amount involved could later be paid I nun the loan to be raised.
