PARAPARAUMU

CONCERT AT THE BEACH. There was a very large audience at the concert at the Beach resort on Saturday night, arranged by Messrs 0. Adams, J. Howell and 0. Bangley, to raise funds for the erection of ladies’ and gentlemen's bathing sheds at Buraya mania. The concert was held in a large marquee erected on the Bence. Mr W. llowell opened proceedings, and remarked on the natural beauty of tire Beach, and its splendid swimming and tisliiug facilities, lie considered the beach was equal to the famous AraikemBeach, at Hawaii. Bo suecesslul was the concert that it. is the intention to hold further entertainments to raise funds to improve Mcßcuu’s Bark by the erection of swings, glides, etc., tor the children. At a meeting of the new ly-formed Bara paraumu Ratepayers’ and Iro gressive Association, the state of the roads in the vicinity of Burn paraumu were commented on, and it was stated that the beach road would shortly become impassable. It was further stated that the Council’s roadmen had been endeavouring to repair the ruts for the last Id months with sand and manuka, as gravel was unobtainable. Tile Association is out to see that these antiquated methods are stopped and intend to interview the Council in the near future. BEACH DEVELOPMENT.
