Dr. Mary Armour is expected to speak in Otaki on .November 30th.
Mr and Mrs C. I. Darkness, of Weraroa, were visitors to the Otaki Show yesterday, and went on to Rikiorungi in the afternoon. Mr Harkness is the Independent Reform candidate for the. Otaki seat at the coining election.
Owing to health reasons. Sir Joseph Ward has declined to contest the Wellington North seat at the coming general lection. This announcement was made yesterday in response to a petition signed by 1500 electors asking him to contest the seat.
The death occurred at Paraparaumu on Friday of Mrs Brazier, a highly respected resident, aged 54 years. Deceased,. who had suffered from a long and painful illness, had been a resident of Paraparaumu for many years. She leaves a family of two soils Charlie fa returned soldier) and Ernest and four daughters —Mrs J. Edwards, ami Misses Ruth. Lily and Eva Brazier —while a husband is also left to mourn his loss. The funeral took place on Sunday and was largely attended. The Rev. Kendrick conducted a very impressive service at the graveside, while a number of beautiful floral tributes were Maced on the coffin.
Air and Mr.- A. F. .Tauncev and family. who have resided in Otaki for the past nine months, during which time they have made many friends, leave this week for Wellington, where they will take up tlieir temporary abode. During his stay Mr Jauncey has done his best to cater for the amusementloving public, and it is gratifying to know that his efforts are appreciated Elsewhere he thanks all for their warm-hearted support unci solicits patronage for hi.- successor. Mr Morse If is probable that M: Jauncey will reenter into the picture business, and w< trust that wherever he goes he wil meet with the success ho deserve-.
