PERSONAL.
Mr P. S. Whitcombe is resigning from the position of secretary of the Taranaki Board of Education after being in the service of the board for 22 years. Miss Ivy Irene Bagnall, of Levin, was married to Mr John H. Rankin, of Wellington, at St. Mary's Church, Levin, ou Wednesday last, the Rev. F. W. Grove officiating. The wedding takes place to-day at Te Horo of Miss Elsie Judd and Mr A. R. Rudkin, both well known residents. The event is causing a deal of local interest.
A quiet wedding was celebrated at Levin on Thursday last, when Miss Phyllis Prouse, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Prouse, of Levin, was married to Mr Trevor Taylor, son of Mr T. D. Taylor, of Wellington. The ceremony was conducted by the Kev. C. Frost.
A motion of sympathy with the widow and family of Die late Mr B. R. . Gardener, formerly an activo member of the board, and an enthusiastic I worker for the Otaki hospital and ! sanatorium, was passed at. a meeting I Of the Wellington Hospital Board. j
Mr W. H. Bowden, of Otaki, has received the following notification: — "I am directed by the Minister of Justice to inform you that his Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint, you to be a member of the Otaki Licensing Committee, in place of Mr W. Tompsitt, resigned."
Dr. Scuofidd, the well-known jour nalist, who has lately returned to New Zealand from England, has purchased the Wairarapa "Age." and will take possession of the business shortly. Dr. Schotield has had a wide experience in journalism, both in New Zealand and the Old Country. We wish him ail success in his venture.
