The Budget debate collapsed unex- 0 pectedly on Wednesday afternoon, due c to the lack of organisation of the Oppo- ® si turn, no one being ready to carry on ° the debate, though many wished to r speak. Mr McCallum’s State Control of ® Licenses Bill was read a second time. Mr Isitt, in discussing the Bill, said after Mr McCall tun’s travel for a year L a to produce a measure of real temperance reform, he had only produced a funnvositv, while Mr D. Jones said * - 1 . a some of the clauses of the Bill were worthy of “Punch.” . Replying to a question in the House, Mr Massey said the increased railway charges were under consideration of . the officers of the Department at .the present time. In all probability they would come into force the week after c next. n
