UNION BY-LAWS SET ASIDE
New York, Oct. 18. “Union by-laws which might endanger national security and impair the war effort can and will be set aside," said Judge Holt, at Miami, Florida, when he permanently restrained the Painters’ Union from punishing members for hurrying defence jobs. The dispute hinged on the use of spray machines instead of brushes. —P.A.
