MILITARY BALL

TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY EVENING B.v permission of the Area Commander. Lt.-Col. C. R. Duke. M.C. N.Z.T.S.. a military ball, the proceeds of which will be given lo the prisoners of war parcels fund, is to be held in the Velma Hall on Thursday evening. The ball has been organised by representatives of the Army staff. Army units stationed near Nelson and representatives of women’s.war organisations. Arrangements have been made to serve supper in the Labour Hall, close to the dance floor, so that the whole floor will be available for dancing. An excellent supper lias been arranged b.v a ladies’ committee under the chairmanship of Mrs Atmore. Light refreshments will be available m the hall itself and shoulder sprays will be on sale. A tenpiece orchestra has been engaged and it is expected that the ball will be well patronised both by the public and by members of the armed forces.
