NUMBERS ON LADDERS
Numbers are painted on builders* ladders as an indication of their height. Tlie figures indicate the number of rungs in the ladder concerned. Thus, a workman, knowing that the rungs are approximately nine inches apart, can select a ladder with the number of rungs which will make it tall enough for his need.
