PALMERSTON N., This Day,

A married man, aged 24 years, whose name was suppressed in tlie meantime, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to the theft on various dates' between Ist June and 29th July, of a sum of £2B 10s, the property of Combined Motors Ltd.

The police explained that accused was a clerk and had been employed by the firm for some months. On 29th July it was reported to the police that the firm's premises had been broken into and the sum of £2B 10s stolen. Some doubt was felt and further investigation resulted in accused ad-' mitting having taken the money in small sums. Accused has a wife and child and has had.a good deal of sickness. He was remanded till Saturday to enable the probation officer to furnish a report. Bail was allowed.
