The “Daily Telegraph” diplomatic correspondent affirms that no draft of the Anglo-Egypti'an Treaty exists, but only a document embodying points of agreement for submission to a full Cabinet next week. It is expected,that Ministers will readily assent, seeing that the proposals are already approved by 'Mr MacDonald, Lord Thomson, as well as Mr Henderson. “EVACUATION OF EGYPT” LONDON, 4th August. The Foreign Office announces that Mr Henderson had a final interview with the Prime Minister of Egypt and reported to him that the Cabinet sub-com-mittee had completed examination of the proposals .for a lasting honourable settlement of the Anglo*-Egyptian quesTlie text of the proposals will be published in a few days. . . The “Sunday Express” says Britain to all intents and purposes is going to evacuate Egypt. It is ipost important to know what is 'going to happen in the Soudan, which has'been made prosperous through the energy of Englishmen.
' APPEAL TO EGYPTIAN PEOPLE {Received sth August, 11 a.m.) CAIRO, 4th August. Mahmoud Pasha telegraphed an appeal to the Egvptian people announcing that after long and difficult negotiations he had succeeded in obtaining proposals for an Anglo-Egyptian settlement on the basis of friendlv mutual understanding. He found the British Government sincerely anxious to meet Egyptian hopes and aspirations as long as compatible with the protection of the Suez Canal arid other British interests. He believed if the proposals are examined in a spirit of enlightened patriotism they would be found to far exceed former proposals.
