MAITAI VALLEY ROAD
(To the Editor) Sir,—During my recent visit to your sunny city I had the occasion to wander in the direction of the M'aitai Valley, and T must admit that I was horrified and surprised to note the slate of the road from Clouston's bridge to Clark's coiner. Some two months ago 1 understand that your city Was visited by a very severe flood and during that period the road in question was absolutely/ washed out of all recognition ; it is at present impossible.to use .that road, and although appeals have been made to your Council they have been .unsatisfactory. What is tlho matter with your Council? And why have they allowed such a stale of affairs to pass their notice; in any other city such a position would not be tolerated. Wake up then, and if your present Council arc slackers, shoot them out, because the Nelson people, I am sure, are only too keen to keep their city up to every expectation. I am, etc., "STRANGER.", Hastings, 10th July.
