CORRESPONDENCE.

To THE EDITOH OV TIIE " EVENING MAIL." Sis,— Possessing a great love of the beautiful and appropriate I venture to address yon a few lmesto express my surprise at finding the terrace in front of your handsome College in sucb an unkempt, dilapidated conditioo. On enquiry I Bcd ifc ia not for want of funis that such is the case, but that on the contrary the College exchequer is full to overflowing. Then why is the present state of things allowed to exist ? When we see a bfggar in rags we are not surprised at it, as such accords with the fitness of tbiogs, but when we see a well-to-do individual looking shabby and unkempt, either from motives of meanness or carelessness, the mind revolts against such a state of things as not what it ought to be. So with other things. The boys of the College would naturally be less careful of tbe interior of th« structure when they find so little care bestowed on the outside surroundings, which is a circumstance worthy in itself of consideration. I think .too it would be a good lesson in self denial that they should be prevented from tearing up, as tbey now do, what ought to be a beautiful grassy slope, into clods for throwing at each other. I hope some member of the Collsge Board of Governors will exert himself to have during the present holidays the eyesoVe to which I have ventured to draw attention. removed. lam,&c, SXEANGBR.
