Dcsedin, Thursday. The Eccles Hotel at Naseby was buret down on Tuesday. It was insured ia the Victoria Office for .£2OO.
Two cottages at Caveraham were barned down this morning. Tha fire was caused by the explosion of a kerocena lamp as JO last night. The neighbors thought tbey bed put it out, hat at three this morning the flames bum out, and spread with great raoidity, fome of the inmates getting severely burned in effecting their escape. Morrison's house, in which the fire Btaned, was insured for £200 and Hobson's, adjoining, for £275 in the National.

Colonel Trimble addressed the electors in the town last evening, when he reviewed the events of last session. He commented at great length on the conduct of the members cnjjiged in "stonewalling," and declared 1 imself a strong supporter of the present Government. A vote of thaoks and confidence was carried.
Te Ai was brought up this morning charged with stealing certain articles from Messrs F:eming Bros, house at Kahotu. The evidence disclosed that some of the clothes were found on the prisoner when arrested. The prisoner was remanded till Wednesday next.

Thursday. Frederick Piummer, notorious in consequence of the. daring burglaries committed by him a few days ago in Auckland and Dunedin, wai arrested to-day under the Vagrant Act. The police suspect him of the recent burglaries here.
