The remaining items were passed, as were also the following :— Class 2, Colonial Secretary A 18,842 ; Class 3 Colonial Treasurer £2526 ; Class 4, Minister of Justice £859 ; Clbbs 5, Postmaster- General £1103; Class 6, Customs £1132; Class 7, Stamps £52Class 8, Education £9200} Class 9, Native £8042 ; ClaBS 10, Mines £638 ; Claw 11 Pnplic "Works £1632 ; Class 12, Defence £1i,760 ; Class 13, Lands £19,928, On the item £10,000 for the abatement of tha rabbit nuiiancs, a motion to reduca it by one-half was lost by 26 to 9. A. motion to omit the item " remhsibn of royalty to Westport Coal Company, £531" was negatived onjthe voices, and the rota passed. The following public works funds were also agreed to:— Class 3, railways £5000; Class 5, roads £1,158 ; Class 6, Native land purchase £565; Class 9, public buildings £3200; Class 10, lighthouses and harbors £1168; Class 11 contingent ittauce £100,000. The following other rotes were passed :— Governmiat InsuraMce Department £2750 ; Consolidated fund : services not provided for £57,420 ; Public Works fund : unauthorised expenditure £34,123; extra supplementary estimates £14,710. The Housa rose at 4 a.m. until 11 o'clock. Tfiiß Day. The House met at 11 a.m. Keplying to Mr De Lautour, Mr Kolleston said that all liabilities for volunteer uniforms incurred bona jidt prior to the withdrawal of the capitation allowance would be provided for. The motion for the second reading was carried, the Bill was considered in Committee, passed throueh and reported without amendment, read the third time and passed The Hoasa adjourned at 116 p.m Tha following clause is embodied in tha Appropriation Bill:— In lieu of the gums payable as subsidies to County and Borough Councils, and to Road Boards and Hirer Boards under section fire of the Financial Arrangements Act, 1876, Amendment Act 1877, there shall be paid out of the consolidated fund during the nine months of tha current financial year from the Ist day of April last past to the 31§t December next, both days inclusive, in respect of all sums received by -way of general rates during the year ending the 3 1st March, 1881, the sumi following:—! To aaah Borough Council a sum equal to 7b 6d for every pound of general rates go received by each such Council ; (2) To each
