Captain Edwin reported at 12-30 p.m.:— Bad weather approaching; any direction Oetween north and west and southwest; glass will fall econ, and there are indications or a bard gale." I'be Murray sails for We at Coast ports at 'ten o'clock to-morrow morning. The Wallace is due at Wellington from Picton to-night, and leaves to-morrow on the Tefnrn to Nelpon. The Lady Earkly returned from Golden -Bay this afternoon. __ The Kennedy sailed at 7 o'clock this morning for Oreym nth direct. Tfae Charles Edward arrive at Hokitika this rr.orning from Westport, and leaves for "rr'ymouth to-morrow. The Penguin left Wellington this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail at 6 p.m. for Taranaki and Manukau. The Wanaka left Wellington at 5 o'clock last nigbt, and arrived here at 5 a.m. to-day, having experienced fine weather across the Straits. She sails for Picton, Wellington, and Lytteltcn at 5 p.m. The Grafton will arrive here from West Coa3t ports to-morrow morning, and sail for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Oamaru by the same tide at 7 a.m The Hawea left Wellington for Lyttelton and Dunedin late last night. The Uiiion Company intend to substitute the Taiaroa for the Southern Cross after her next trip to Fiji. On the arrival of the Manipori the Hero wiil be put on the trade. The steamer Great Bru&in was recen;!y offered by auction at Liverpool, but as the bidding only reached £6500 she was withdrawn. Captain Williams' new steamer Westport was expected to leave Glasgow at the end of August, and, as it was thought she would make the passage in seventy days, she may be expected to arrive at Wellington in the first week of November,
