.. . . Otaki, Wednesday. A fatal accident occurred here yesterday to a daughter of the Rev James Me Williams by which she lost her life. Her father was unloading ft cart, nnd by Rome unknown cause the blinkers came off the horsa which caused it to bolt, and the wheel of the cart passed over the neck of the child, who was playing in the yard, causing death almost immediately afterwards.

to hold themselves in readiness for immediate action. Mounted patrols have been out daily for the last fortnight. Yesterday about sixty Maoris made an attempt to 'stop an Armed Constabulary fatigue party from taking firewood but after a long korero retired growling.
